From Woe to Possibility

The places of woe that you have just seen have in common: lack of imagination; lack of design; and a restricted view of children, young people and their communities. This all contributes to market failure in the provision of play opportunities.

It doesn't have to be like this.

The following photos show just some of the many more imaginative approaches to children's play in this country and abroad.

The 'Places of Possibility' that follow are not to be seen as 'good' or 'best' practice examples, invitations to mere mimicry. Rather, they are to be understood as local and particular expressions of shared principles, values and understandings.
